Ban on construction activities lifted in Delhi as air quality improves slightly
The ban on construction and demolition activities has been lifted after air quality in Delhi dropped to the poor from very poor.
He said the authorities would monitor construction sites to ensure that builders follow dust-control measures set out by the Government.
“We are closely monitoring,” Delhi’s Environment Minister Gopal Rai said, urging Delhiites to use public transport.
Rai on Monday said: “Any private or Government construction site will be immediately shut if it is found violating any of the 14-point anti-pollution guidelines issued last month.”
Vigilance to find violators will continue.
“The ban has been removed as air quality is already improving and the labour force is starting to face inconvenience. We will issue notices later, but construction work will be immediately halted and a penalty will be imposed on the spot, if any construction site, public or private, is found not adhering to the 14-point guidelines,” he said on Monday.
