30 kg biryani, 25 kg ladoo feast hosted as ex-Okhla MLA Asif Md Khan returns home after bail, gets heroe’s welcome on Wednesday night, according to Congress worker Abdul Wahab Malik.
Khan was arrested on November 27 for abusing SDMC workers and making them murga for removing his posters from the area. A video of the event had gone viral.
The ANI reported on December 14 that the Delhi court granted bail to Khan held for assaulting MCD staff.
Muzzakir Zaman Khan said many Okhla Congress workers and Khan’s fans went to jail to receive the leader. Khan got a rousing welcome as he returned home after more than 18 days of arrest. Sher aya chant reverberated in the air at Kalindi Kunj as Khan got down from his vehicle with his supporters. Also, flower petals were showered on him.
The party hosted in his honour went on till late night, said Wahab.
In the video that went viral, Khan is heard saying: “These AAP people come here and remove our (Congress) posters.”
The Delhi Police had booked him under IPC sections 353 (assaulting public servant), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to public servant), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of duty) etc. A case has been registered at Shaheen Bagh police station.
The IE reported quoting, DCP (Southeast) Esha Pandey said: “We received a complaint from Ram Kishore, MCD Inspector of Lajpat Nagar zone, regarding the incident. He complained that Khan abused and assaulted MCD staff on duty and obstructed government work. We have arrested Khan. The case is being investigated.”
The Congress leader of Okhla has got bail after furnishing his personal bond and surety bond in the sum of Rs 20,000 each, said Zaman. Court also imposed several conditions while granting bail to him, reported ANI.
