Talib saga: Why only Asif, Shoaib vocal? Aarfa at victim’s house
Usually when anything happens in Jamia Nagar, the social media is the first place which goes abuzz with many doing FB live.
But even a day after when words spread in the locality about murder of 25-year-old Talib Samadani in a fight over gulli danda on Friday in Batla House, netizens continue to avoid the issue.
Besides, at the Jamia Nagar police station where Talib family members turned up to express their displeasure seeking justice in a peaceful manner, only two Congress leaders of the locality, former Congress MLA Asif Md Khan and sitting Councillor from Zakir Nagar Shoaib Danish turned up to stand by the poor family who lost their only son to the gory incident in which the family alleged that many beat Talib mercilessly who succumbed to his injuries in a hospital on Saturday.
Arrests have been made and FIR registered and the probe in the case is on but the family members claimed they want more demanding the arrest of main accused.
If Asif Khan and Danish were at the police station, Congress leader Advocate Aarfa Khanam, who is also seeking ticket from Congress from Abul Fazal Enclave ward for 2022 Municipal Corporation Election, turned up at Talib’s house in Jogabai extension and did FB live from the spot.
Congress leaders Syed Fouzul Azeem, Danish Aleem, Faizan Sarkar also turned up at the police station but late. At Talib’s house, many local leaders, including AIMI Delhi joint secretary Afzal Khan Afridi and other leaders were seen but they maintained a low profile.
When the OT interacted with a few Okhla observers to know the reason, a resident on the condition of anonymity said after watching Asif Khan’s video he has come to conclusion that many thought it better to stay away from the incident and must have thought to avoid posting anything, a claim which the OT was unable to verify.
Another Okhla watcher said it is rare to see people speak up against the injustice done by powerful lobby for fear or might be of mutual interest only God knows the best and the topic needs urgent probe so that in the coming MCD election, voters don’t elect unjust leaders.
