Interim bail has been granted subject to the conditions that he will provide his service at the adult education centre and won’t indulge in a similar offence in future, reported the news agency.
The HC asked Khan to mark his presence before the Shaheen Bagh police station SHO every alternate day and said he shall go there without his supporters, reported PTI.
Lawyer Mohd Areeb Hasan, who is well aware of the development and is close to the former Okhla MLA, told the OT that Khan got the bail. When asked when he will be back to his Kalindi Kunja house he said it might be tonight or tomorrow.
After Khan got bail, his daughter Areeba Khan posted an old video of his father when he had got rousing welcome by his supporters after he had walked out of jail after being arrested for misbehaving with police outside a mosque. Later on he arrested again on January 5 for allegedly misbehaving with police personnel in Shaheen Bagh.
“He has remained an MLA and his daughter is an MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) councillor. If he uses such abusive language, what other people will do,” the HC orally said, reported the news agency.
“If law enforcers are attacked or abused and accused are released on bail, it will send the wrong signal in society. To my mind, in these circumstances, the bail application of accused Asif Mohammad Khan does not deserve to be allowed and is accordingly dismissed,” the trial court judge said in the January 28 order.
