Amanatullah trying to convince residents with this narrative to back Wajid, Ariz
Since the election date for MCD poll 2022 has been announced, Okhla AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan has been at the forefront of drumming up support for his candidates in five Okhla wards, including AFE and Zakir Nagar. After shaking hands with Wajid Khan, he has been tirelessly campaigning for him, trying to convince residents to give him another chance.
He knows that residents are not happy with the work done by Wajid and hence in every public and door-to-door meeting he has been urging residents to votes AAP candidates in all five wards of Okhla.
He is trying to build a new narrative that as AAP is coming in MCD it is important that residents also votes his party in the MCD in Okhla so that he could develop the area.
Though some are getting convinced many residents are still not willing to give AAP another chance, said a political observer, adding that this time around there is no AAP wave and there is support for Congress across Muslim-dominated wards in Delhi.
Keeping this in mind, it won’t be a cakewalk for the MLA to convince residents, he said. But Khan is not giving up and in all his public meeting the one narrative which is telling residents that if they don’t vote AAP then the area will continue to stay under-developed. Those who are not buying his argument said in the last five years Councillor and MLA were from the same party that is AAP and still no developmental work was done with garbage dump at Shaheen Bagh and in front of Al Shifa hospital being the main feature during the rule.
Besides, many residents were upset with inordinate delay in sewer work with roads being left dug-up for months and nobody to take care.
Political observers said a lot will depend on how the MLA succeeds in convincing residents with his narrative, if he succeeds then AAP will pass otherwise fail.
