Watch: Jamia students stand in solidarity with Afreen
Students at Jamia Millia Islamia, including anti-CAA activist Ladeeda Farzana, demonstrated against the “illegal” demolition of Javed Mohammad’s house in Allahabad and “persecution of Muslims protesters in UP, Jharkhand” and other parts of the country, said the Students Islamic Organisation of India in a press statement issue to the media.
SIO, Muslim Students Forum, All India Students Association and Fraternity Movement were part of the agitation, it said.
The march was held peacefully with security outside the campus beefed up.
Afreen is a former JNU student, whose house was razed by Uttar Pradesh authorities.
The Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) had on Sunday demolished the house of Javed Ahmad, the alleged mastermind of the June 10 violence in Prayagraj, amid heavy police deployment, reported the PTI.
Ahmad is Fatima’s father.
According to a PDA official, the building map of Ahmad’s house had not been approved by the authority.
Ahmad has been arrested in connection with the violence and is being interrogated, police said.
