Prof Mahfooz new Head of Jamia’s Urdu department
Prof Ahmad Mahfooz has been appointed as the Head of the Department of Urdu, Jamia Millia Islamia.
Professor Ahmad is a prominent poet and expert in classical literature and he has been performing teaching duties in this field for a long time.
Professor Ahmed Mahfooz belongs to Allahabad and his area of interest is classical Urdu Poetry and Poetics, Mir Taqi Mir Studies. Besides Urdu, he is well versed in English, Hindi and Persian.
He did is PhD on A Critical Study of Mir Criticism in Urdu, Jawaharlal Nehru University, and MPhil on Nasir Kazmi ki Ghazlon ka Tanqidi Motala, Jawaharlal Nehru University, in 1999.
Before landing in JNU, he did is MA in Urdu, University of Allahabad with First Div. & First position, 1988Junior Research Fellowship (Urdu), University Grants Commission, New Delhi.
Also, he did his certificate in Modern Arabic with First Div. & First Position, Jamia.
