This winter, the community news portal OT has seen a big rise in people searching for bater (quail) meat. Many food lovers, especially those who enjoy unique and traditional dishes, are trying to find where they can buy or eat bater meat in Okhla.

According to OT, the number of searches and visits to their earlier story on bater meat has increased noticeably in recent weeks.

Last year, the portal published a story about a local eatery in Abul Fazal Enclave that started serving bater meat. The story quickly became very popular.

Many people read it, watched the video, and visited the shop mentioned in the article. The outlet, called Gullu Chicken Point, located at L-17 A, Abul Fazal Enclave Part-1, Jamia Nagar, New Delhi – 110025, was most probably the first in the area to offer this special dish. The report included the shop’s full address, which helped a lot of people find it easily.

On December 2, 2020, Gullu Chicken Point made local history by introducing bater meat to the community. Since then, its popularity has only grown.

Gullu’s father, who helps run the shop, thanked the OT team for their support. “After the report was published with our address, our business has grown. People are even coming from far places like Noida to try our bater. Some are calling us to place orders, while others are walking straight to our shop,” he said.

He also mentioned that due to this increased interest, they are now planning to refurbish the shop. “We are thinking of upgrading the shop and bringing in more bater to meet the growing demand,” he added.

The viral video and story had a strong impact on the local food scene. According to local food reviewer Rizwan Khan, the rise in demand for bater meat has led many other small restaurants and food joints in Okhla to start offering the dish too.

“This is a great example of how a local food trend can grow because of one story,” he said.

The original story by OT helped shine a light on a unique food item that is not commonly found in many places. It reminded people of a traditional delicacy that is loved by many but not easily available.

One food lover, who became a regular customer after reading the report, said he now often orders bater meat from Gullu Chicken Point. “During the Covid lockdown, I started getting it delivered to my home. The taste is really good, and now it’s a regular part of our weekend meals,” he shared.

With more and more people showing interest in this dish, it looks like bater meat will remain a hot favourite in Okhla for some time. And for many foodies, the search always starts with OT as Jamia Nagar has emerged as foodies hub with residents coming from across Delhi and far away Gurugram to relish Mughlai delicacies in Zakir Nagar, Shaheen Bagh, Abul Fazal Enclave, Okhla Vihar and Tikona Park.

Jamia Nagar has swiftly emerged as a go-to destination for food aficionados. Of many areas in Okhla, Shaheen Bagh, popularly known as chaalis futa (40 feet road) in local parlance, has emerged as a new foodies’ hub. Engineer Syed Hashmi, a regular to these eateries, told the OT that it is giving stiff competition to the old and celebrated Muslim-dominated food hubs like Matia Mahal in Delhi-6, Nizamuddin and Zakir Nagar.

The biggest attraction is that the prices of delicacies are affordable.
