    DU Professor Wali Nadwi residing in Shaheen Bagh dies

    Dr Wali Akhtar Nadwi, a Jamia Millia Islamia alumnus and Arabic Professor at Department of Arabic, University of Delhi, passed away today, according to social media posts.

    A resident, who knew Dr Wali, 60, confirmed the news of his demise to OT over phone.

    Dr Wali was residing in Shaheen Bagh with his family and according to residents close to his family he was unwell for the last few days undergoing treatment.

    Dr Wali did his BA from Jamia in 1991, MA in 1993 and PhD in 1999. Dr Wali had breathing problem and he died before his Covid test result could come, reported a daily. Dr Wali, who originally was from Bihar, was laid to rest in Shaheen Bagh graveyard, said residents.

    It is also reported that he faced hardship in getting a bed in any hospital with only a local AFE hospital admitting him. It is said he was denied admission by six hospitals.
