Cop lends helping hand to Batla House road accident victim during weekend curfew
On Sunday at about 3:45 pm when a Batla House resident met with an accident near gate number 1 Jamia Millia Islamia, there was nobody to help her due to weekend curfew following rise in Covid-19 cases in the national Capital.
It was then that one SE Ravi deployed at Jamia rushed to lift her and took her to a nearby Bansal Hospital by his personal car without delay, said the police. First aid was provided to her as she had sustained injuries after her scooty slipped.
The police said this is not one off incident that their staffers are helping residents during the lockdown.
It said on the same day when it had received a PCR call from PS Kalkaj regarding scarcity of food and medicine to the Covid positive family, the beat staff immediately provided them food, medicine and other necessary commodities.
Further the beat staff provided them his personal number so that in case of any emergency they could contact him, it said.
In another case, the staff of PS Kalkaji provided oxygen cylinder to the Covid positive, said RP Meena, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South East District Delhi.
The police said its staffers have gone beyond the call of duty to help crisis stricken residents during the weekend lockdown.
In another instance, SHO Bharat Nagar Mohar Singh provided the most needed medicine Remidisvir injection to a resident.
In New Friends Colony, a retired Professor of English Literature from Delhi University as well as senior citizen whose children are residing in the USA, called police for medicine and beat staff CT Devender immediately rushed to the medicine shop and delivered the medicine at her doorstep, said the police.
