During her convocation address, Vice Chancellor Jamia Millia Islamia Professor Najma Akhtar announced on Sunday that the Union Government has granted permission to start medical college in Jamia, said the university PRO.
“Vice President and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan were also present at the state,” he said.
The VC made this announcement, according to the university, during its Centenary Year Convocation being held for students who passed out in the Academic Years 2019 and 2020 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.
Vice President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar is the Chief Guest and Minister of Education, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan is presiding over the convocation which started at 11:00 am.
Najma delivered her address and presented the report of the university on the occasion. Around twelve thousand five hundred students, including gold medallists who passed in the year 2019 and 2020 would be awarded degrees and diplomas during the convocation.
Considering the limited space only gold medallists and PhD pass outs will be awarded their degrees at the Vigyan Bhawan.
All other students will be awarded their degrees and diplomas at the university in the afternoon.
A special function will be organised in the evening at 5:30 pm at Dr MA Ansari Auditorium of the university where Chief Guest of the function Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Vinai Kumar Saxena will distribute gold medals to the toppers.
