An online session on the “National Education Policy” (NEP) was successfully conducted by the Institution’s Innovation Council, Jamia Millia Islamia on 27 February.
The session was organised to provide the students and faculty members with an overview of India’s New Education Policy with special focus on Innovation. Attended by teachers and students from various departments, the orientation session laid down the terms of the debate and generated a lot of discussion on the role of Innovation as entailed in the New Education Policy.
Prof. Simi Malhotra, Director, Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, welcomed the participants and the guest speaker, Prof. Furqan Qamar, who has a wide experience in policy making when it comes to higher education.
Prof Furqan Qamar gave an overview of the New Education Policy and he concentrated on those aspects within the policy where emphasis has been laid on the role of innovation in promoting research and training. He gave insights by citing statistics as also discussing at great length about the objectives of the New Education Policy and what all stakeholders need to do for its proper implementation especially when it comes to the role of innovation.
He also addressed queries posed by the participants after his presentation.
