Congress leader Aarfa said after the Yamuna water level receding people who had left their jhuggis are returning back and it is the time when they need food items to start their life again.

She said her NGO distributed 120 packets to the flood-hit victims. “Our aim is that these people should have enough food items to start things anew. The packet consisted of flour, rice, masala (turmeric, red chilli, coriander powder), soyabean, chana daal, mustard oil, sugar, tea and besan,” she said.

After the Yamuna River inundated outer areas of Batla House in Dhobi Ghat many people were shifted to flood relief camps floated by the Delhi Government where food was provided to the people.

Now, when things appear to be returning to normalcy people have decided to go back to their houses and it is the time when they need help.

Helping the needy is not something new to Aarfa as she has been at the forefront of taking up residents’ cause from time to time.

A lawyer by profession, she is also a social activist whose heart beats for the downtrodden.
