Jamia bars entry of unvaccinated staffers to campus, V-C Najma warns of action
In order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and Omicron cases on the campus, Jamia Millia Islamia Vice Chancellor Prof Najma Akhtar has approved that only those employees will be given entry in their respective Departments/offices who had taken “at least one dose” of any of the available Covid-19 vaccine.
The decision was taken pursuant to the guidelines issued by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Govt Of NCT of Delhi, said the university in a statement.
Those employees who had not taken any dose of the vaccine will not be allowed to come to their respective offices and action will be taken against them as per rules of the university, she said.
The period of absence from duties of such employees shall be treated as ‘On Leave’ till the administration of the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
The administration of the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine/ complete vaccination shall be verified by the concerned Head of the Departments/ Offices through Arogya Setu Application/ Certificate of vaccination produced by the concerned employee, said the university.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor has asked all students and employees of the university to strictly follow Covid Appropriate Behaviour in view of the surge in Covid-19 and Omicron cases in the national capital.
People visiting the university had been directed to greet without physical contact, maintain physical distance and follow Covid protocol, said the university.
The Vice Chancellor had also directed to close gymnasium/indoor activities at the Nawab Mansoor Ali Khan Sports Complex of the university till further orders.
