Veteran former Jamia magazines Editor Shahid Ali Khan, 89, is no more, writes ÀU ASIF.
Shahid Ali Khan, a legendary nonagenarian former editor, Jamia Millia Islamia’s most famous book review magazine “kitab numa” and popular house hold children magazine “pyaame taaleem”, and manager, Maktaba Jamia Ltd, suffering from multiple diseases breathed his last at 5 am on April 2021 at his residence in Zaidi apartments Okhla Head.
According to his youngest son Maajid Ali Khan, the end came peacefully this early morning amidst close relatives.
He left behind two sons, one in the Gulf and daughter, living at Aligarh. His wife expired in 2015. He also served earlier at Maktaba Anjuman-i-Islam Mumbai, founded by the nationalist leader Badruddin Tayyabji in the late 19th century.
Shahid Ali Khan will remain in memory of many for his great contribution to the prestigious and popular Jamia literary and children magazines and Jamia maktaba.
Shahid Ali Khan will be laid to rest this afternoon following last prayers at Okhla Head Jama Masjid after namaaze zuhar at 2 pm.
