Watch: Okhla-based actor-cum YouTuber arrested for making extortion call of Rs 1 cr to Batla House resident
Okhla-based actor-cum YouTuber has been arrested for making extortion call of Rs 1 crore to a Batla House resident, according to media reports.
The story of the YouTuber, who is now in police, custody, was reported by several national dailies according to which his target was Mehruddin Ansari, who is a builder and also runs a garment business and two schools in the locality.
Ansari told the OT that after receiving the call he was upset. He said it is upsetting to see that such things are happening in a Muslim-dominated locality. “Earlier there was kabza gang encroaching on plots and now you are seeing people are getting extortion calls,” he said. Ansari thanked the police for acting on his complaint and cracking the case. He said he is hopeful that police will work to wipe out extortion gangs operating from the locality.
According to police, Ansari alleged he received a call from two men — jailed gangster Fahad and another man. The duo threatened to kill him and demanded Rs 1 crore, he said.
Rajesh Deo, DCP (Southeast), said the team received the complaint on February 27 and immediately sent a team to Delhi Prisons to catch Fahad, reported the IE.
He was re-arrested within 4 hours and a phone was seized from his cell. “We then put the mobile numbers on surveillance and found that the second accused was frequently changing his location to evade arrest. After several raids, we caught the second accused, Mohd Shahid, from Jangpura,” said Deo.
Shahid is a YouTuber who runs social media pages with the handle ‘Star Films’ with his office in Batla House, reported the IE. Also, he is claimed to have acted in short Bhojpuri films for his YouTube channel.
“Shahid revealed that Fahad asked him to make a list of rich businessmen to extort money from. Shahid found the complainant. Later, he made a conference call to the complainant and added Fahad who threatened the victim from jail,” said an officer.
Shahid is a history sheeter and was out on bail, and was involved in nine criminal cases including cheating, Arms Act, snatching and extortion, police said, reported the IE.
