Ghats are being spruced up in Okhla ahead of Chhath Puja, according to Mahmood Ahmed. In a FB live video, Ahmed said a ghat is being getting ready ahead of Chhath Puja in the locality. He said it is being done on the direction of Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan and by the Delhi Government.
The SDMC too has been making all necessary arrangements at Chhath Ghats in its area. For providing facilities at ghats in all 104 wards, the civic agency said it has made a budget allocation of total Rs 41.60 lakh.
To augmented street lights at ghats and roads approaching towards the ghats, to ensure proper sanitation, cleanliness besides other facilities, Rs 20,000 has been allocated per ghat for two ghats in each ward of the SDMC, said Mayor Mukesh Suryan.
The Mayor said the fund allocated will help in improving facilities for devotees at Chhath ghats. To facilitate the devotees, booths will also be set up at Chhath ghats, he said, adding that Chhath holds special importance in the religious and cultural activities of Delhi.
People celebrate this festival with togetherness and seek blessings. It is our responsibility to make all arrangements at ghats to facilitate devotees, he said. The SDMC is making all possible arrangements, keeping in view of Covid norms, to make the festival a successful event, he said.
