Many Okhla netizens mourned the death of 45-year-old Akhtar Alam on Friday due to coronavirus. Alam, an alumnus of Jamia Millia Islamia who resided in Okhla for years, died in Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia, where he was working as a General Manager in a polyclinic, said a netizen on Friday. Born in Katihar, Alam came to Delhi for higher studies after which he moved to the Middle East in hunt for job, wrote residents on the social media. He is survived by four children and a wife who reside in Bangalore, said Syed Tahseen Ahmed, who knew him.

Noida-based Anand Mohan Zutshi Gulzar Dehlvi, a veteran Urdu poet and freedom fighter, is no more with us. He died on Friday afternoon, five days after he recovered from coronavirus. He was 93 years old. “His corona test came negative on June 7 and we brought him home. Today he had lunch and at around 2.30 pm he passed away. As rain and hailstorm lashed Okhla a few hours ago on Wednesday bringing the much needed relief from soaring temperature, many netizens shared videos and photos of the changed weather on the social media. Noida and Delhi experience hailstorm. Some Okhla residents who relished the moment said though the rain didn’t last long it brought relief from the heat. Dr Wali Akhtar Nadwi, a Jamia Millia Islamia alumnus and Arabic Professor at Department of Arabic, University of Delhi, passed away today, according to social media posts. A resident, who knew Dr Wali, 60, confirmed the news of his demise to OT over phone. Dr Wali was residing in Shaheen Bagh with his family and according to residents close to his family he was unwell for the last few days undergoing treatment.
