Feisty Aarfa launches door-to-door campaign in Shaheen Bagh to win hearts
With Municipal Corporation elections in Delhi still months away parties in the national Capital have started girding up for the big moment.
In Okhla after two of its important seats, Zakir Nagar and Abul Fazal Enclave, have been reserved for women, the wards are all slated to have a fight between women for the Councillor seat.
Though the reservation of the two wards poured cold water on plans of male aspirants who have been dreaming and involved in posterbazi for months, many among them are now planning to pitch their wives or daughters.
Some among them have already started their campaign.
Of them Advocate Aarfa Khanam is leading from the front and is doing all to win hearts and minds of the residents of Abul Fazal Enclave ward.
According to political observers, Aarfa, a Congress worker, has been very active even before the seat was reserved for women. On Saturday night, she with her team members was seen doing the rounds in the locality, distributing leaflets and making new Congress members.
A feisty activist, Aarfa is known in the locality for working among the downtrodden. She has been a strong advocate for change in the locality and brining in educated faces so that the locality changes for better.
On and off she has been fiercely raising the issue of garbage dumping on roadside in two places through her regular FB videos.
She said she has taken a plunge in local politics to bring in changes and improve sanitation in the locality. Among many, she is a strong contender for Congress ticket from Abul Fazal Enclave ward.
