I have got admission in MDS in AIIMS, my All India Ranking 14: Afreen
I have got admission in MDS in AIIMS and my All India Ranking is 14, according to Amna Afreen Kidwai. A resident of Shaheen Bagh, Afreen told the OT that after completing her BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) a 5 years undergraduate programme from ESIC Dental College Rohini, she tried her luck at entrance exams.
“For long time I always dreamt to study at AIIMS, India’s premier medical institute and I cracked INICET and got admission in AIIMS with my all India Ranking standing at 14,” said Afreen from her Shaheen Bagh residence.
Born in Lucknow, the family came to Shaheen Bagh years ago. Afreen said she studied in DPS Faridabad until Class X.
Afreen’s mother Zeeshan Fatima Kidwai, a PhD scholar, said her father always encouraged the children to do well in education. When free, Zeeshan Fatima gives free coaching to under 10th class students in her Shaheen Bagh flat and also guides them in the right direction so that they could excel in education.
Afreen’s father Abdul Moiz Kidwai said the family is proud that both their children are doing well and it is only through education that empowerment can come by.
Afreen’s great grandfather was Maulana Abdul Majid Daryabadi, who translated the Quran in English. He was an Islamic scholar, philosopher, writer, critic, researcher, journalist and exegete of the Quran in Indian subcontinent in the 20th century. Also, during his time, he was as one of the most influential Indian Muslim scholars and was much concerned with modernism and comparative religions and orientalism in India.
Dr Md Hashim Kidwai, former MP Rajya Sabha, is her grandfather and Zamir Ashraf, former Director Geological Survey of India, maternal grandfather.
